Honey and Ash: Mothers’ Alchemy of Burn and Bloom

by Maria Kefalogianni
HoneyAndAsh

Poetic Spirals of Birth and Becoming

Honey and Ash gathers poems and prosetry from the furnace of mothering, where grief, rage and devotion are composted into nectar.

Moving through six sacred rites, from Awakening to Holy Union, Maria Kefalogianni braids ancestral memory, clinical insight and mystical experience into an embodied map for modern mothers and all who love them. Here the ordinary becomes a portal. Galaxies and laundry spin in the same bowl. Read to remember the Great Mother within, and to turn pain into hymn, ash into bloom.

Maria Kefalogianni

Maria is a somatically attuned psychotherapist, supervisor, and trainer with more than 16 years’ experience. Drawing on Minoan ancestry, contemplative practice and an MSc in Counselling Psychology from Keele University, she founded Presence Centred Psychotherapy and the Ancient Mother Spiral. Her work bridges clinical rigour and mystical depth, integrating trauma-informed care with embodied spiritual inquiry. A neurodivergent seer, mother and writer, she supports clients and practitioners to transform burnout, separation and intergenerational patterns into coherent presence. Maria also facilitates community circles and teaches supervision integrating spirituality and therapy.

Author's Note

This book rose from honey and ash. I am a mother, a seer, a neurodivergent maker of sanctuaries. I have known burnout, rupture, migration. I have also known the soft thunder of unity that silences the myth of a separate self.

These poems arrived in kitchen light and midnight tears. They arrived while bearing witness to Gaza’s grief, while tending children, while being tended by the Ancients who stitch my Minoan line to this breathing moment. Presence Centred Psychotherapy and the Ancient Mother Spiral are not inventions. They are remembrances my body trusted before my mind could.

Motherhood made me a vessel and a cauldron. It asked me to compost rage, fear and inherited silence into a nectar that could feed a village. I do not bypass darkness. I name it, bless it, and work with it until it yields honey.

If you are a mother, a father, a healer, a wanderer, a soul who thinks in spirals, come close. Read as if you are listening with your bones. Let the Great Mother within you taste every line. May these pages help you remember you are both wave and ocean, both ash and bloom, and that love is the ground of all.

With reverence,
Maria

What readers are saying...

“Honey and Ash is not a book, it is a portal. Embodied wisdom to drink into guts, heart and sinew. Maria walks the fiery path of motherhood and burns into being. She invites us to rethink spirituality in the sacred mess of parenting. You will not finish unchanged by this.” – Lucy Grace
“Carved from rapture and wounding, these chronicles of the womb are an alchemical elixir of pain and beauty, birth and death. A mother writes poetry and prose that crushes stardust into milk. Required reading for those who would turn pain into hymn. Reading it redeems us, in every tender breath.” – Alfred K. LaMotte
“What can I say? This poetry is alive. It is literary fire. And in it is found the resuscitation our souls and our world require to stand in the blaze, to embody eternal light.” –Chelan Harkin
