our story so far
our beginnings
The clubhouse foundations were laid in November 2022 by Sara Priestley and Helen Amery. When The Complete Book of Awakening (TCBOA) was about to be published, we needed a home for the book and the free resources. Back then we were called Thoughtful Raven, the name inspired by the moment.
So, if you came here looking for Thoughtful Raven, you are in exactly the right place!
We quicky expanded into the wider world of practical spirituality.
First, we introduced the Birth Your Book programme: training for authors based Sara’s experience of different publishing routes across several genres, and the confidence you too can get from spark to shelf in about nine months.
Then we brought all of Sara’s spiritual development courses onto the platform: everything from nondual basics and spiritual grounding to the psychic experiences that come with the deeper stages of awakening.
Finally, we were excited to host the free resources for Life’s Simple Recipes by Denice Cartwright: the very first graduate of Birth Your Book.
our evolution
Over time, it became clear that the clubhouse deserved its own space, independent of a single book and not entangled in any one philosophy.
This led to the natural ending of the Thoughtful Raven partnership in March 2025. As lead author, it made sense for Helen to take The Complete Book of Awakening and its courses into her Wild Fig Solutions business. You can easily access all the courses and free resources from our TCBOA book page.
In turn, Sara took on responsibility for this website: hosting our little collection of books (including her own first book, quintessence: the poetry of true nature) and the Birth Your Book programme.
It was the perfect time for a spring clean and refresh. For several reasons, a new name was necessary…and so, Inky Paw Books began to be built on those earlier foundations. This honours Merlin, the ex-street cat, who should probably have third author credits on TCBOA, and Pretzel, who does love a good Zoom call.

As our next chapter opens, we are actively looking for existing authors who’d like see their books on the clubhouse bookshelves. Our ethos remains to support and promote high quality books that can share a perspective that is supportive and inclusive.
We are interested in all areas of practical spirituality. This includes poetry, fiction, self-help, memoir, personal development, coaching, metaphysics, and any soulful business approach.
With the Authors’ Toolkit, including Birth Your Book, we offer training and support for writers to create and publish. We’re not here to change your authentic voice or teach you to write. We bring the skills to make sure your book reflects your inner vision. We want you to be proud when that first proof copy reaches your hands.
